THE DOW JONES, SUMMER OF 2010
BY ALPHEE LAVOIE, NCGR LEVEL IV
As Astro financial astrologers we believe that cycles repeat themselves.
Let’s take a look at the aspects that are occurring in the heavens from June 1st 2010 to September 1st 2010 and apply them to the past history of the Dow Jones. In my study I used the Dow Jones historical price from February 4th 1930 to May 1st 2010.
This is how to read the following graphs
The vertical lines with dashes in black on the graph show the days of the exact aspect. The graph displays the average movement of the Dow 10 days before and 10 days after the exact day of the aspect. Each small gold circle represents one day. You can see the daily movement of the Dow.
On this first graph notice how the Dow climbs up 8 days before the aspect and then goes down after that.
On June 4th Mars is in opposition to Neptune. The aspect happened 24 times and the Dow Jones went up 19 times and down 25 times.
On June 8, 2010 Jupiter will conjunct Uranus. The aspect happened 11 times and the Dow Jones went up 2 times and down 9 times.
On June 8th 2010 Jupiter will parallel Uranus. The aspect happened 21 times and the Dow Jones went up 10 times and down 11 times.
On June 24th, 2010 Jupiter square Pluto The aspect happened 16 times the Dow Jones when up 8 times and down 8 times.
Read the appendix at the bottom of this article. to observe a real look at this aspect.
On July 26th, 2010 Saturn a post Uranus. The aspect happened 9 times the Dow Jones when up 5 times and down 4 times.
On July 30th Mars oppose Uranus. The aspect happened 45 times the Dow Jones when up 30 times and down 15 times.
On July 31 th Mars conjunct Saturn .The aspect happened 41 times the Dow Jones when up 27 times and down 14 times.
On July 31st Mars will parallel Saturn. The aspect happened 86 times and the Dow Jones went up 43 times and down 43 times.
On August 3rd Jupiter will square Pluto. The aspect happened 16 times and the Dow Jones went up 8 times and down 8 times.
On August 3rd Mars will oppose Jupiter. The aspect happened 55 times and the Dow Jones went up 35 times and down 20 times.
On August 3rd Mars squared Pluto. The aspect happened and 88 times the Dow Jones when up 45 times and down 43 times.
On August 16th Jupiter oppose Saturn. The aspect happened 16 times and the Dow Jones went up 9 times and down 7 times.
On August 21st Saturn will square Pluto. The aspect happened 12 times and the Dow Jones went up 10 times and down 2 times.
As astrologers we may not often pay attention to a waxing or waning aspect. However, if you ignore this when dealing the market you can get hurt. We call these aspects of waxing and waning front and back. The back square is 270 degrees and the front square is 90 degrees. The front sextile is 60 degrees and the back sextile is 300 degrees. In trine the front trine is 120 degrees in the back trine is 240 degrees. The only aspects that do not have front or back degrees are the conjunction and opposition. All other aspects will have front and back.
This the summer Jupiter will square Pluto twice. Now let’s take a look at the different results when using waxing and waning with this square.
This is what happened to the Dow Jones when Jupiter and Pluto are 90° apart. Notice that the Dow jumped up 5 days before the aspect to two days after the aspect.
Now let’s take a look went Jupiter is 270° from Pluto. Notice that the stock keeps going down 10 days before the aspect to roughly 7 to 8 days after the aspect. This is a huge difference from the 90° opening where the Dow went down 5 times and up one time compared to the 90 degree opening where the Dow went up 7 times and down 3 times.
This summer of 2010 this apect will occur twice and both times when they are 90° apart.
